The Ottoman Empire blended culinary traditions from many regions over centuries, creating a distinctive palace cuisine. Yet much of this heritage faded over time, as palace recipes were often kept secret.
Drawing on palace-library research and historical sources, Matbah Restaurant brings this tradition back with a curated menu of 27 signature dishes from the Sultan’s kitchen—carefully refined for today while remaining true to Ottoman techniques, and served year-round with Ottoman hospitality.

This was our first trip to Istanbul, and navigating the historic district can be tricky since many streets are pedestrian-only. When your taxi drops you off, call the hotel— they can send a vehicle to take you and your luggage directly to the entrance. The hotel is very close to the main Old Town sights; Galata and the Chora area are farther, but the staff help with taxis and fair pricing. Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was plentiful, and the on-site restaurant was great. They also helped us arrange a pleasant, informative guided day tour. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we’d love to return.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Ottoman Hotel Imperial. The location was fantastic for a first-time visit to Istanbul -- nearby all of the old town sights. The staff was fabulous -- Ehran, Sevgi, and Hilal were so helpful and always greeted us with enthusiasm and a smile, going above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Of course, as others have mentioned, the breakfast buffet is superb. Highly recommend this hotel for your trip!!

When we arrived at the hotel we were met with complimentary drinks. The staff were welcoming and professional.
The hotel was clean and very near and walking distance to the attractions, cafe shops, parks and restaurant which we enjoyed.
The room services was very good.
The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast area was beautiful looking out to the beautiful picturous surrounding views. The breakfast staff were always helpful and friendly.
